MOSCOW, Feb 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, approved on Tuesday in the first out of three mandatory readings a bill banning state authorities to use foreign geo-information programs to process spatial data.
The document sets the specific features of organization of the cartographic activities and the use of geo-information programs, including protection of spatial data.
The bill introduces the ban on foreign geo-information software for processing of special data from 2026.
The country has been limiting the purchase of foreign software for state and municipal needs since 2016.
